L' Oreal Preference Wild Ombre

About a year ago I got my hair ombre'd in a hair salon and I loved it. It was so natural and beachy, perfect for my trip to Greece that summer. Since my hair is a darker shade of blonde it was ideal to get light blonde ends. But as the year progressed, obviously, the blonde lost its brightness and became a bit duller in tone (almost golden in colour or as some call it, brassy). I didn't really mind much because I was busy studying for the Leaving Certificate and said I'd wait until it was over to dye my hair again. Up until last week I was definite I was going to go to the hair salon again to get colouring done but after reading a load of reviews on the L'Oreal Preference Wild Ombre I decided to try a home dye kit first. So last night I dyed my hair using the NO. 3 shade (blonde to dark blonde). 

 Bellow are to images of 'before' and 'after' the dying process, mind you I have yet to use my purple shampoo so excuse the yellowness of my hair in the 'after' photo.

The Dying Process

The process its self is fairly easy. The packet comes with clear instructions and with developer creme, lightning creme, powder, conditioning shampoo, gloves and a brush. Because I already had ombre in my hair I applied it to where the original light blonde was on my hair applying more dye to my ends and reducing the amount of dye on the applicator as I brought it further up my hair. This creates the gradual fading effect.

After applying the dye with the brush I wrapped the dyed hair in tin foil to act as an insulator and to provide heat to allow the colour to take to your hair easier. I left this on for about 30 minutes and left my hair without the foil for 15 minutes. In the instructions it said to leave the dye on for 25 - 45 minutes depending on the desired colour you want. I left mine on for the full 45 for a more noticeable blonde shade.

I washed the dye out and applied the conditioning shampoo. I washed this out and then added my own conditioner as my ends felt quite dry after the blonde dye. I then dried my hair to appreciate the new colouring :)

Opinions

I am very happy with this product, it did exactly what it said. I love the ombre effect I think its quite natural looking on blondes and its by far the easiest hair colouring to manage. I think it looks stunning on every hair colour! You dont need to get your roots dyed or highlights re-applied. You simply leave it as is and let it grow out with your hair or like me re-touch on the colouring to brighten it up. My only faults are that the conditioning shampoo was not conditioning and the fact that there are very few shades in the range. When I searched online I found a blonder shade called no.4, but when I search in various pharmacy's (drug stores) and shops they only sold no. 1 - 3. But this possibly isn't L'Oreal's fault just the fault of stocking in different shops. I think possible no.4 would have suited me better as I would of preferred a more ashy blonde tone (silvery toned), but all in all I am delighted with the hair dye and would recommend this kit to anyone due to its simplicity and natural colours.

Today I decided to curl my hair to see the way the ombre looked with curls and I love it!

I really agree with this quote. I believe individuality, uniqueness and being ones self is so important in life. Allowing yourself be confident in who you truly are is vital. Being able to express your full self is a skill, mastered by the happy and beautiful. In my opinion the happy and beautiful are anyone who embrace who they are and don't pretend to be someone different.  It shouldn't be a hard thing to do, but it can be at times. Emerson calls it "the greatest accomplishment" and it really is once established.

Hello Blogisphere

Because this is my first post I'd like to explain myself. 

I'm Sinead, I'm 18 and I'm Irish! I'm quite small and I have blonde bohemian style hair (probably not your typical image of an Irish girl, but we don't all have red hair you know!). I love to bake and love art and design. My goal is to travel the world and immerse myself in different cultures and gain new unique experiences! I have wanderlust, google it, and love volunteering. I've travelled to India to work with the street children of Kolkata but that's another story for another day. When I'm not travelling I adore art and creativity and spend most of my time doing something related to that field. That's when you'll find me posting projects here (more than likely everyday).
